Cake Topper

Here is my blingy creation:

I purchased a silver colored "M" cake topper from Michaels craft store & painted it blue then glued many, many, blue & green colored bling crystals.

This is what I used to pick-up the crystals:

Here is the glue:
This project was very, very, very tedious!  It took so long to finish this cake topper.

Blue Mason Jar DIY Projects

I love the look of vintage blue mason jars but. they are so hard to find & they are pretty pricey.  I came across a blog with instructions on how to make your own by using regular clear glass canning jars or you could even re-use pasta sauce jars.  Here is the link:vintage.htmlhttp://bridalbuzz.blogspot.com/2009/01/glass-jars-turned-vintage.html
I purchased the glaze from Michaels craft store in the secion with the stained glass supplies. One jar of the glaze goes a long way. When I was finished making my blue mason jars I put craft sand and a candle in each one and tied a bow around the top too.  I plan on positioning these on the walkway to the ceremony & reception.

Centerpieces

For months before we went to South Carolina to see our venue I was planning on creating our centerpieces myself.  When we finally were able to see our venue for the first time (yes, I was crazy & booked a venue before seeing it)  I was pleasantly surprised when I was told that you can rent centerpieces from them!! Oh yeahhh I was so glad because I didn't have to buy tons of things, design them, and transport them from NY to SC.

we decided to keep the centerpieces simple.  We are using a mirror, small candles, a hurricane vase, and royal blue decorative rocks in the base of the vase (one of our wedding colors) scattered on the table are glass crystals.  This is a picture of the mock-up we had when we visited the venue.

Dress Shopping

I went dress shopping at Davids Bridal when they had a big sale. The dress I bought was the second dress that I tried on. I'm not going to post my real wedding dress yet because I want to keep it a secret until the big day!   When I tried on "my dress" I was in LOVE with it & it was everything I wanted! I just felt like I should try on more dress since I would never get to do it again & so I had something to compare "my dress" to.  So, here are the other dresses that I tried on.

Dress #1...

I didn't like the "pick-up" style of the first dress & due to my lack of boobie the top of the dress looked like it was caving in LOL

Dress # 3

I loved the top of dress #3 and the lace-up back but I was not diggin' the skirt

                                                                      Dress #4

I was not feeling this dress at all! I felt like the side draping made me look wide.  You can tell by my expression that I don't like it!

                                                                    Dress #5

This dress was my second favorite but I just wasn't sure about the ruffles at the top & it didn't have a train so it didn't feel very bride-ish to me.  My FMIL saw it and asked me to try it on because she liked it a lot & called it the princess dress.

It was a lot of fun dress shopping :)

Dancin' Shoes

I included these in my bridesmaid's gift that I gave them at the rehearsal dinner.  I got the black flip-flops from Old Navy when they were on sale for $1 each & wrapped the straps with royal blue ribbon & used my trusty hot glue to secure the ribbon in place. I started by gluing close to the part that goes between the toes and then wrapped around the length of the straps.  I would put a dot of glue to secure the ribbon to the strap about every 3 inches. I purchased the ribbon from Hobby Lobby when they had all their ribbon on sale for 50% off.  I hope my girls will like wearing these at the reception when their feet get tired from their heels :)

I cropped a pic to show one of my bridesmaids wearing the flip flops at our reception.  All of my girls wore them and the color ribbon matched the dresses perfectly.

Card Box

I made this by using 3 different sized boxes from Michaels crafts store.  They were on sale 50% off when I purchased them.  First, I spray painted them with white primer and then cut a medium sized whole into the top of the largest box with a box cutter.  Next, I cut a hole in the bottom of the medium sized box and then a slot in the front for the cards to be dropped in.  After that it was time to paint the boxes blue. I used royal blue ribbon for the trim and hot glued it to stay.  The jewels were found at Michaels craft store in the scrapbooking aisle. I used super glue to connect the boxes.  Lastly, I purchased a large diamond ring paper weight from Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon and just set it on the top of the box for decoration.

Personalized Wine Glasses

I made these for my bridesmaids & will have them placed at each persons seat for the reception.

I purchased wine glasses for $1 each at the Dollar Tree and bought acrylic paint from a craft store & a stencil of different sized circles.  I don't have a steady hand or good handwriting so I typed the names in word in the size & font that I wanted and then taped it inside the glass & used it as a guide as I painted over it.  I had different sized circle stencils for the rest of the glass & painted under the base black.  Then, I followed the directions on the paint bottle and baked them so that the design would last and would be dishwasher safe.

Weekend Recap

Saturday:

To start the day off I did insanity pure cardio & then did some stregnth training after.

Later, I had some fun with my daughter on thelolcam on facebook.

We also went to a craft fair/demo at our church & got some deee-lish baked goods but we ate them too fast for me to take pics.

Watched some football with Dustin & thankfully his team the Virginia Tech Hokies won (yeahhhhhh)

Sunday:

I worked on some DIY wedding projects & crossed some things off my list. (see wedding planning page for details)

Dustin & I caught up on some of our favorite tv shows.  We watched Tosh.0, Workaholics, and American Horror Story.  American Horror Story is my new favorite show, it's so weird and twisted and perfect.  Check it out!  It comes on Wednesday at 10 PM on FX. Oh, we also drank some tasty wine.  We had Goldseal Mountain Lake Catawba Pink wine.  I highly recommend it :)

How was your weekend?
